Hay 20 segundos entre una acción y otra.

Yo no recuerdo algo similar.

Segundo contra tercero: Doncaster contra Brentford, en casa de estos últimos. Quien salga victorioso del duelo asciende a Championship de forma directa. El que no, a los playoffs. Se acerca el final del partido con 0-0 en el marcador y el árbitro pita. Ha sido mano. Penalti a favor del Brentford. Si lo marcan, ganan el partido. Y ascienden.

La ecuación no tiene mucho más misterio.


Los jugadores locales celebran la oportunidad. Tiempo de descuento: es la última. O a la gloria o a la mierda. Uno se echa las manos a la cabeza. Otro pide calma. Y hay otro salta como si ya lo hubiesen logrado. Ese otro es Marcello Trotta, un delantero de 20 años cedido por el Fulham y que desde que llegó al Brentford ha hecho bastantes goles. Los siguientes 20 segundos al lanzamiento de penalti son difíciles de llegar a explicar porque pasa de todo, pero de alguna manera el balón le llega en el centro del campo a un jugador del Doncaster. Arranca hacia la portería rival y, delante del portero, se la cede a James Coppinger, que llegaba por el otro lado.

Tras dos toques de dudosa calidad marca gol.

The most successful manager in English football history will bow out after the West Bromwich Albion game on 19 May and join the football club board.

Announcing his decision to retire, Sir Alex Ferguson said:

“The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about and one that I have not taken lightly. It is the right time.

“It was important to me to leave an organisation in the strongest possible shape and I believe I have done so.
